Nice & small Thai restaurants, but parking is bad and the food is bastardized to suit gringo taste. John loves the Orange Chicken, I agree that it is good.

Paulette Macarons

Beverly Hills, CA 90212
Tel: (310) 275-0023

After Mozza, we decided to go to LA Farmers Market at Fairfax and walked into Mr. Marcel Gourmet Market, I found out that they sell macarons by Paulette. Lisa tasted one of them and green lighted me to buy them.
We brought it home and I am instantly hooked after eating the sweet wedding almond, besides: it doesn't taste like the original macarons - it's better!

AAA Seafood Restaurant
220 W. Garvey Ave.
Monterey Park, CA 91754
Tel: (626) 571-8898
Daily: 11AM-10PM
It claims "Most Authentic Chinese Cuisine in Town". Well, it probably rings true for Teo Chew person like me. My family always frequent this restaurant since it serves Teo Chew heritage food (deep fried shrimp cake, fried noodle and sticky yam).
Unlike ordinary shrimp cakes, these ones are fully covered in thin gelatin and deep fried, hence it is chewy and moist when bitten into. Pay attention to the temperature before you eat it and you wouldn't burn your tongue.
The deep fried shrimp cakes need to be ordered a day in advance since the cook likes to keep it fresh. It pays to call since the restaurant frequently hosts wedding parties.

Pasadena, CA 91107
Tel: (626) 578-9814

This is one of the Thai restaurant that I like since the servings are not too sour or too hot, maybe the food is closer to the Teo Chew style with Thai background.
What good here? I think everything is excellent. The recommendation page is a good start.

Nice view at the terrace, weekend brunch ends at 3:00 PM, so it is great to lounge and eat liner instead of brunch.
I only took the side view to the hills, instead of the breathtaking view of Burbank/Hollywood since the sun was in that direction.

Porto's Bakery
315 N Brand Blvd
Glendale, CA 91203
Tel: (818) 956-5996
http://www.portosbakery.com
I drove for 2 hours from Santa Ana to Hollywood to pick up Ida and visited the bakery.
For some odd reasons I always get lost when I am trying to locate the shop. Remember: most parking spaces are located at behind the store at Orange street. Orange is located between Brand and Central. You have gone too far if you cross California or Wilson (assumed traveling south).
Love the cheese rolls, anything that has guava jam in it (refugi is one of them), and the meat pies.
